Aatami Korpi, a former soldier tired of warfare, ventures into Finnish Lapland in search of gold. His pursuit for wealth takes a dark turn when he clashes with Nazi soldiers, leading to a brutal and violent confrontation.

Review: "Sisu" is an unapologetic, fast-paced action drama that pushes the boundaries of brutality and gore. With no subtlety, the film keeps viewers on the edge without respite. It fearlessly embraces its outlandishness, not taking itself seriously while making self-aware jokes. The plot may seem nonsensical, but it confidently delivers relentless violence that surpasses even Tarantino's movies and the "John Wick" franchise. The audience will find mindless entertainment in rooting for the protagonist and witnessing the demise of the Nazi soldiers.

The war drama of "Sisu" unfolds during the closing days of World War II, following Aatami in Finnish Lapland. Confronted by retreating Nazis who rob him and try to kill him, Aatami escapes and embarks on a quest to reclaim his stolen treasure. What follows is a brutal showcase of violence as Aatami gruesomely eliminates the Nazi soldiers through crushing, stabbing, hanging, and explosive means.

Despite minimal dialogue, the screenplay of "Sisu" manages to maintain engagement, captivating the audience. The film's violence towards Nazi soldiers taps into a subconscious allure, while the protagonist's resemblance to a video game character adds to the experience. The power dynamics between the opposing forces also play a significant role in the story.

Finnish filmmaker Jalmari Helander, known for incorporating violence, stays true to his reputation with "Sisu." However, the violence in the film feels purposeful and fitting. Jorma Tommila's portrayal of Aatami is remarkable, delivering a compelling performance that makes an unbelievable role believable. Aatami combines elements of Clint Eastwood's western spaghetti and Arnold Schwarzenegger's "Terminator," creating a dynamic on-screen presence.

While watching the Nazi soldiers being savagely killed in "Sisu" may raise moral concerns, the film's intense entertainment value cannot be ignored. This action-packed drama surpasses even the thrilling action of the "John Wick" series. However, due to its graphic depictions of gore and violence, viewer discretion is advised.
